Imagine you are in Tír na nÓg. Write about your adventures.

I arrived in Tír na nÓg, the Land of Eternal Youth, through a souterrain. I seemed to have walked through an underground passageway out into a different world. This world was a sun-drenched land, lush and green. I was surrounded by trees and flowers in full bloom. The sky was cloudless and I hadn’t a care in the world. I lay on the grass soaking up the sun. I was dozing off to sleep when I heard a chorus of voices. I awoke to see a crowd of people peering at me, they were wondering who I was and where I had come from. All the people were young. They explained that I had arrived in the land of Tír na nÓg and that they had all lived in the land for hundreds of years without change. They didn’t have to work, didn’t have to go to school and could play all day, every day. It all sounded so exciting to me. They all immediately wanted to be my friend – the fun and games began. We swam in the rivers, played football, picked flowers and chatted. We sailed boats, painted pictures and sang songs. Life was so carefree and happy. The days were so full of cheerfulness and glee. After a week (Tír na nÓg timing) of my new life in Tír na nÓg, I started to miss my old life. I started to miss my family, my friends and all the people I loved at home. I started to miss the things I was familiar with. I decided that I wanted to return home to my old life. I was also becoming concerned about my family. They didn’t know where I had been all this time. The Tír na nÓg people warned me that if I went back that I would never be able to return to Tír na nÓg. I knew that I really had to go home. I needed to see my family and friends. So I returned to the entrance of the souterrain, said goodbye to my new friends and entered the underground passageway. It wasn’t long until I was back home. It turned out that I hadn’t even been missed by my family (I had only been gone an hour) so I never told them about my adventures in Tír na nÓg. I don’t think they’d believe me anyway! I hope you do!
